Abstract:
Disclosed is an organic dye which exhibits high dichroism in a short wavelength region
(380-500 nm), while having excellent durability. This organic dye is useful
for anisotropic dye films such as polarizing films. Specifically disclosed is
an azo dye for anisotropic dye films whose free acid form is represented by the following
formula (1) or (2).
