Abstract:
Provided is a backlight apparatus, wherein influence of unevenness in brightness to be induced by notch sections can be inhibited. The backlight apparatus (50), which is for irradiating light onto a liquid crystal display apparatus (10) provided in the present invention, is provided with light sources (35), a light guiding plate (30) for irradiating light emitted by the light sources (35) onto the liquid crystal display panel (10), and pins (44) for positioning the light guiding plate (30). Notch sections (32) for housing the pins (44) are formed on the light guiding plate (30), and filling material (38) having an index of refraction higher than that of air is filled into the notch sections (32) such as to cover the pins (44).
