Abstract:
The present invention relates to a backlight unit, and to a liquid crystal display device and game console including same. The game console includes: a backlight unit; a liquid crystal display device disposed on the front side of the backlight unit; and at least one reel disposed on the rear side of the backlight unit to display a plurality of symbols. The backlight unit includes: a light guide plate; a light source disposed adjacent to the light guide plate; and a high polymer dispersion-type liquid crystal layer disposed on the rear side of the light guide plate, wherein the high polymer dispersion-type liquid crystal layer is selectively converted into a transparent or opaque state according to whether electricity is applied. The high polymer dispersion-type liquid crystal layer may be partially formed so that the high polymer dispersion-type liquid crystal layer partially overlaps with the light guide plate in the forward and backward directions and has a predetermined pattern.
