Abstract:
The passability of the balloon catheter is improved. The balloon catheter is equipped with a cylindrical inner shaft, a balloon that covers part of the inner shaft and the distal end portion of which is joined to the inner shaft, and a cylindrical outer shaft that houses part of the inner shaft. The outer shaft has a balloon joining portion joined to the proximal end portion of the balloon and a reduced diameter portion housed within the balloon and having an outer diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the balloon joining portion, and is joined to the inner shaft within the balloon. Also, a communicating hole for communicating between the inflation lumen and within the balloon is formed. Also, within the balloon, the outer diameter of the outermost circumference of a structure formed by the inner shaft, an x-ray opaque marker, and the outer shaft is reduced continuously or in a stepwise manner from the proximal end portion of the balloon toward the distal end portion side.
