This application claims priority to application AR 2019 01 00807 filed on July 28, 2019

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to the field of sports, in particular soccer, in which it is usual to train players to carry out free kicks to the goal, either above or below a barrier/wall with real players. The present invention consists of an apparatus, a method and an application software that improves the performance of free throw training in the sport of soccer. More precisely, it is a set formed by an animated mechanical device that simulates the random and erratic behavior of a true human barrier/wall to practice the execution of free kicks in training, integrated with a command and programming terminal.

2. Description of the Related Art

Several documents are known that refer to similar types of invention.

Document CN 204411646 (U) describes a dynamic soccer barrier simulation training device with remote control. The device comprises a wireless remote control transmission unit, a wireless reception management unit and dynamic simulated person units, wherein the wireless remote control transmission unit is comprised of a touch screen, a wireless transmission module and a transmitting antenna The wireless reception management unit is composed of a receiving antenna, a wireless receiver module and a PLC, and each dynamic person simulation unit comprises an installation base, a simulated dynamic jump person installed in the installation base and a jump driving device that is capable of receiving a control signal sent by the wireless receiving driving unit and used to drive the simulated dynamic jump person to jump and restore. According to the document, control over the dynamic simulation barrier can be achieved through the wireless transmission and reception units, each simulated dynamic person unit can achieve a combination of vertical and oblique jump, the number of compound jump units The simulated dynamic person can be determined freely, and the combination of modular jump action of the barrier can be achieved by triggering a PLC subprogram. Although the document mentions a touch screen (equivalent to a tablet) and a PLC that might fulfill the functions of automatism that this type of device requires, it does not comprise the advanced functions of the present invention. This is due to the fact that the program of the aforementioned document resides in a PLC, which can be commanded from the remote interface to comply with programs installed in it but, because it is an industrial type device, it is not designed to handle advanced programming. In the present invention the advanced programming is contained in the application specially designed for this new training barrier, which resides in the PC, the Notebook, the tablet or the cell phone that will be permanently updated and nourished by statistical data (BigData®) provided by the user.

Document CN 104771889 relates to a wall designed for soccer training, which relates to soccer training assistance. A support frame is formed by a cross rod (2) and support rods (3), wherein the support rods (3) are respectively arranged on two ends of the cross rod (2), and are vertical to the cross rod (2); a plurality of prostheses (1) are arranged on the cross rod (2); connecting blocks (6) are arranged on the prostheses (1); the prostheses (1) are connected with one another through the connecting blocks (6); elastic devices are arranged on the bottom parts of the support rods (3) and are arranged on a base (5). The wall special for soccer training is strong in practicability and simpler to operate, the wall can be moved up and down, the number of the prostheses of the wall can be selected freely, and more training help can be provided for kickers, so that the training effect is improved. Although the document mentions some drive flexibility by allowing independent movement of each prostheses, it is designed to move all de prostheses at the same time and at the same height, whereas the present invention programs the barrier/wall to move as 4, 5 or more players would in a real match , jumping each at their own time and with programmable heights, having the possibility to decide the height of the jump of the prosthesis or allowing the machine learning computer to randomly decide the heights of the jump. This allows unpredictability in the training of free kicks, situation not possible with the invention described in CN 104771889. The cited document also does not describe or mention the use of an application software resident on a PC, a Notebook, a tablet or a cell phone that gives the device all the functions Versatile of the present invention.

Document CN 2436186 describes an artificial barrier capable of jumping, which is used for soccer training. The device mainly includes“Y” shaped plates and a jump control mechanism. The document describes a control mechanism that is arranged under at least one "Y" shaped plate. At the time of training, the corresponding Ύ’ -shaped plates are controlled to jump according to the direction of a ball flying towards them. The Ύ' shaped plates are installed in a body of the vehicle that is connected with two rear wheels and a front wheel, where the rear wheels are connected with a speed reduction mechanism, and the front wheel is connected with a reversing mechanism. As a result, a combination movement and artificial barrier jumps are obtained as required, and in addition, a real game can be simulated, which is in accordance with the requirements of soccer training. However, the arrangement mentioned in the cited document does not represent real size people or soccer players and, therefore, it fails to simulate a real life behavior. This document also fails to allow the player to train kicking the ball beneath the wall, thus leaving out a real-life situation since many goals today are conceived this way because the ball might be kicked underneath the wall of defense players in the exact moment they jump. Although this document also mentions some drive flexibility for being equipped with pinions and speed reducers, it also fails to describe or mention the use of an application software loaded in a PC, a Notebook, a tablet or a cell phone that supplies the device with all the versatile functions of the present invention.

Document CN 203989783 discloses a wall device for free kick training. The wall device comprises two supports resting on the ground, a transverse rod above the ground is installed between the two supports, a plurality of vertical guide rails are installed on the transverse rod, and sliding blocks are installed on the vertical guide rails in a sliding mode respectively. The wall device further comprises dummies, a horizontally-extending transverse connecting rod and a lifting driving device, wherein the waists of the dummies are installed on the sliding blocks in a rotary mode, guide blocks are hinged to the dummies, and guide grooves are formed in the transverse connecting rod. The lifting driving device can drive the dummies to upwards move by driving the transverse connecting rod to upwards move, and jumping of defense persons can be accordingly simulated; in addition, the transverse rod is arranged above the ground, so that when the dummies move upwards, the feet of the dummies are certain distances away from the ground, and rolling pass can be trained; the vertically-formed guide grooves matched with the guide blocks are formed in the transverse connecting rod, the jumping time and the jumping heights of the dummies can be changed by setting the different lengths of the guide grooves, and therefore free kick training is closer to practical games. Although the cited document also mentions some drive flexibility when mentioning the vertical movement that can simulate the jump of the dummies, these can only be adjusted mechanically by varying the vertical guides and cross-connecting rods. In the cited document the dummies move all together and at a same height for all the dummies, but it does not allow selecting a height for each one separately as if they were individual players as the present invention does. The document also does not describe or mention the use of a resident application software on a PC, a Notebook, a tablet or a cell phone that supplies all the versatile functions of the present invention.

Document CN 2930799 discloses an apparatus for training people with a dynamic soccer barrier having an electric drive, where, on a mobile support of the body of the vehicle, two pulsing frames and a pair of drive rods are arranged symmetrically with electric machines capable of driving the two pulsing frames to move transversely; Each pulsing shelf comprises an active base, an electric motor disposed on the base, a pair of small connecting rods of transmission with the axis of the electric motor through a crank and a base plate arranged on the small connecting rods, with the plate of base provided with a plurality of dummies side by side. The drive mechanism of the electric motor rod includes a main electric motor in the center of the vehicle body support, a crank wheel that rotates with the main electric motor shaft and two connecting rods arranged on both sides of the drive wheel; the crank with external ends of the two connecting rods being connected respectively to the base of a pulsation frame. When the device is used, and the electric motor is activated, the pulse racks move up, and/or right and left, to mimic the defense actions of jumping up, and/or, moving to the right and left of the players that form a barrier . Although the cited document also mentions some drive flexibility, the upward and downward movement is continuous, not allowing the dummies to move, jump or react in the exact moment when the ball is kicked, thus not allowing the wall to serve its purpose. The device of the cited document fails to simulate the action of defending and blocking the shot aimed to the goal due to its delayed reaction. The device of the present invention, however, has a real-life nearly instant reaction thanks to the machine learning computer used (TX2 ©Processor or similar), and the activation of a camera/sensor at the moment in which the ball is kicked, thus perfectly imitating the situation of a free throw. Also, in the cited document the dummies are interconnected by units of 3 whereas the present invention allows individual movement of each dummy which can simulate the jump of each defense player. Also, the cited document only allows mechanical adjustment of heights, by varying the vertical guides and cross-connecting rods. Lastly, the cited document also fails to describe or mention the use of an application software resident on a PC, a Notebook, a tablet or a cell phone that supplies the device with all the versatile functions of the present invention.

Document CN 204380197 describes an auxiliary soccer free kick training barrier device, related to a soccer training device. The auxiliary soccer free throw training barrier device comprises a mobile pedestal, deflector plates of the human body, a plurality of lifting air pumps, optical sensors and a chip microcomputer. The plurality of the lifting air pumps are arranged on the mobile pedestal; the deflector plates of the human body are mounted on the lifting air pumps; The mobile pedestal and the deflector plates of the human body are provided with the optical sensors that are connected to the microcomputer by means of wireless signals. The cited document describes the following operation: after organizing the optical sensors, the barriers can be moved to the left and to the right or up and down. While the cited document also mentions some drive flexibility, its movement is achieved by a plurality of lifting air pumps, which is a system that has been tested and subsequently discarded by the inventors of the present invention for two main reasons: a. it gives a slow reaction to the dummies, not fast enough as that of a jumping human being, and b. it involves the use of an air compressor that makes the device more expensive and requires the use of air ducting pipes that are fragile and require permanent cleaning maintenance. The document also fails to describe or mention the use of an application software resident on a PC, a Notebook, a tablet or a cell phone that supplies the device with all the versatile functions of the present invention.

Problems to be solved

In the field related to the present invention, the following technical problems should be solved in the wall/barrier for the practice of conventional free kicks.

The practice of free kicks with wall/barriers are generally confined to the field of professional sports where static elements are often used, or the players themselves who take part in the practice. However, human defense walls often have uneven or unpredictable behavior. Sometimes the players jump to try to hinder the shot above the barrier but they may as well only scatter. To counteract this erratic behavior, shooters sometimes hit the ball at the ground level, anticipating the jump of the barrier, so that the ball passes underneath the players with good goal prospects. It is then evident that the use of static barriers in training does not allow taking into account the somewhat unpredictable behavior of the human barrier in real soccer matches. On the other hand, repetitive motion devices also fail to help kickers' training because they are predictable.

An important problem to solve is the need that exists in the art of providing an agile, instantaneous and portable tool to modify the programming of the barrier in the field locally or remotely in order to allow simulating different behaviors of the set, whereby the player who practices his shots can train without wasting time.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is an improved barrier, a method and an application software to command and receive data from the barrier for use in free kick practices. The present invention refers to an artificial, mechanical or electromechanical device, similar to a human barrier, for free kick training. The device imitates the unpredictable human movement in a real soccer game, helping the player to improve his performance in the practice of free kicks with a barrier. The device connects to a programming terminal and comprises an electro-mechanical assembly with one or more human-shaped figures (dummies) that, when a ball is shot to it, it imitates the jump of a person, making a sudden upward movement in a random or programmable way at the moment of the free kick. The device has a mechanism that can be hydraulic, pneumatic, or a rack and pinion drive system that triggers the figures up violently suddenly and randomly. This device helps improve the quality of a player when carrying out free kicks with a barrier in a real match situation, thus increasing the amount of goals obtained via free kicks.

The barrier also has the possibility of being programmed with data collected from the challenger team to be faced in a further game and saved in a database (referenced as Big Data ®), which may store for example the height or the behavior of certain team players in the free kicks, with information obtained from previous real soccer matches.

The device has a programming and parameter setting terminal that stores an APP (application software) and which allows to carry out the method of the present invention. The terminal can be a cell phone, a desktop PC, a portable PC (type Notebook or similar) or tablet, so the DT or physical trainer can track each player's free kicks, these percentages being successes or failed shots. The player is video recorded (filmed) with a front camera incorporated in the wall (the same that is used to detect the kick that triggers the reaction/jump of the dummies) which records a video of the kick movement allowing a further biomechanical correction of the dummy’s movement. There is also a back camera incorporated in the wall (the same that detects if the ball went in or out of the goal, therefore allowing a count of the percentage of goals made in the practice for each player) that records the video of the reaction and position of the goalkeeper, allowing for a further correction of his position and reaction to the kicked ball.

The software permanently adjusts to changes that ensure the degree of randomness in the behavior of the device. With this APP the trainer can also perform specific training routines, either modifying the height, speed, difficulty of the free throw or also repeating movements of the jumps of the dummies to improve the quality of the player's shot.

The barrier of the present invention is a continuously adaptable sports equipment for training free kicks. Through the use of different sensor devices and with the accumulation of data obtained from them, it is possible to imitate 100% of the human jump in a free-throw barrier of an official match. These devices can be selected from a list consisting of a camera, a processor commanded by software called Machine Learning TX2 ® or similar, proximity sensors, etc. The software that commands the processor was designed containing a code for the dummies to jump from random or programmable way to imitate the human jump in free kicks. The arrangement comprises at least one dummy and in a preferred embodiment, five dummies are used but this amount is easily selectable by the user. In a preferred arrangement using five dummies, the arrangement is complemented by five motors, five rack-and-pinion assemblies and the APP (application) with which the barrier is remotely controlled from a cell phone, portable PC or tablet to be able to turn on, program, receive data and turn off the barrier.

When the barrier is activated and positioned between the goal and the ball, the front camera detects the player when he kicks the ball, reacting instantaneously to the movement of the ball towards the goal, and behaving like the players forming the barrier before a free kick in an official match. The barrier provides dynamic and random movement imitating the natural jump of the human being in a free throw barrier in an official match. The arrangement is automatic, it is not necessary to activate it to make the figures jump (in a random or programmable way).

The application software (APP) also serves to program the barrier using a database (BIG DATA®) formed by previously loaded information. This means that if a team A is going to face a team B, they can train in advance with a barrier that statistically imitates the behavior of the barrier in an official free kick of team B.

The design of the barrier figures (dummies) resembles a human being with measures and heights that are in accordance with a typical professional soccer player, either in an athletic state or in jumping capacity and speed.

There is no need to change parts of the barrier arrangement to be able to have different heights. In a preferred embodiment, the dummies are preferably between 1.60m and 2.0m tall but these height limits may vary according to special requirements. The processor positions them in a random or programmable starting position prior to the jump, depending on the difficulty with which the players want to train, or depending on the heights of the players of the team to be challenged. The data stored in processor gives the possibility of programming low jumps o high jumps, always in the range of the jumps of real trained soccer players.

In a preferred embodiment, the barrier is powered by standard 12VDC and 60 VA capacity batteries or by a low voltage power supply of 12VDC and 5 Amps output, powered by 220V AC wiring, thus broadening the use conditions and, since the power supply is highly isolated, it can be used outdoors in any type of wet weather.

As was mentioned before, the barrier also allows the team to be trained by firing shots below it, with the ball moving at ground level, imitating many of the goals achieved today in professional soccer.

The dummies may also have ornamental designs to customize for each team with their own team colors and sponsors.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

A general view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention and its component parts is shown in Figure 1. In the mobile frame, barrier bodies are installed as dummies or human-shaped figures whose average height can be selected and in a preferred embodiment is chosen in values ranging preferably from 1.60m to 2.0m but these height limits may vary according to special requirements.

Figure 2 shows that each dummy 1 is supported by a protecting structure 2. Behind each dummy is an actuator mechanism which, according to the selected embodiment, can be a pneumatic, hydraulic spring or a pinion and rack drive system mechanism 3. In Figure 2 shows in particular the drive embodiment by a rack 3. By this mechanism each dummy jumps up to a height selected by the user. In a preferred embodiment this height is an average of 2.15 meters. The rack is fixed to the dummy at the upper base of the structure 4 and the upper support of the structure 5, the lower base of the structure 6 and the lower support of the structure 7. The bearing assembly 8 allows each dummy 1 a degree of freedom to turn, so that it can be bent forward. In the enlarged view of the figure, the washers of the bearing 9, the screws 10 for fixing the bearing to the structure, the washers 11, the nuts 12 and the elastomeric washers 13 for fixing the dummy to the structure may be seen in detail. The dummy is fixed to the lower base of the structure by means of screws 14. It may be seen that the dummy with its structure is welded to the rack 3, as well as four bearing assemblies 8 (See FIGURE 3) which are the ones that slide on the 2 guide bars 42 made of stainless steel that are bolted to the main barrier structure (See FIGURE 5). Each dummy slides on two axes and, having five dummies, ten stainless steel guide bars 42 are used, two for each mobile dummy. The rack 3 is half of the system that moves the dummy, the other half being the motor 18 with the pinion 15 (See FIGURE 4) that is inside the protective backpack (See FIGURE 7) on the main structure of the barrier (See FIGURE 5).

Figure 3 shows from another angle and in greater detail the rack 3, the upper base of the structure 4 and the upper support of the structure 5, the lower base of the structure 6 and the lower support of the structure 7, the washers 9 and the fixing screws 10. The structure mounted on the back of each dummy 1 may be seen in detail and, being five dummies, are five skeletons. Each structure contains one rack 3, and four sets of bearings 8, which slide on the two stainless steel guide bars 42 of each dummy system 1.

In Figure 4 the pinion 15 can be seen meshing with the rack 3 and which is driven by the motor 18 when mounted on the adapter bushing 17. The motor is supported by the support plate 16, the screws 20, the support washers 19, the bearing washers of the support 21 and the screws of the support bushings 22. In turn, the rack is mounted by means of a support 23 by means of support screw 25 and support washers 24. It may be seen in detail the support where the engine of each dummy 1 is placed, and the usage of five of these engine mount assemblies, wherein each one moves a dummy. The support 16 is welded to the main structure (See FIGURE 5) and the motor 18 is screwed onto this support 16. Each motor rotates a pinion 15 that meshes with the corresponding rack 3, generating the movement of the dummy 1. Each support 16 has a rack support 23 that urges the rack 3 to hold in place so that it does not move or disengage due to the strokes generated by the balls that the dummy receives (See FIGURE 2) where the structure that contains the rack is located (See FIGURE 3). Figure 5 shows a general view of the structure 26 or mobile frame, which can be moved when mounted on the wheels as a carriage comprising rims 28 and tires 27, which allows it to be easily located in different positions in front of a practice goal, varying distances and angles. The main structure of the barrier is shown in detail, where the four wheels (AD.2 in parts list) and the handlebar (See FIGURE 6) are located. The structure (See FIGURE 5) links the ten stainless steel guide bars 42 on which the five dummies slide (See FIGURE 2) and the cabinet where the TX2 computer or similar is located (See FIGURE 9) (the barrier processor that analyzes the code and transforms it into movement of the dummies 1). The TX2 computer or similar 65 is commanded by the APP software 74 that is stored in the tablet, the portable PC or cell phone. On the main structure (See FIGURE 5) are also the supports of the motors, the motors (See FIGURE 4) and the enclosures (See FIGURE 7) that cover this mechanism to protect it from the sun, dust and aggression of the environment in general.

Figure 6 shows the handle 29 of the body of the dummy that can be adjusted in different positions by the stop 30 to each of the side structures 31, the rear structures 32 and the front structures 33, which are linked by the rod 34 and fixed thereto by means of the springs 35, the axle screws 36, the axle nuts 37 and the washers 38. This figure details the handle 29 which serves to be able to pull the complete set of the barrier.

Figure 6A shows in greater detail the dummies and the rack and pinion drive system mechanism that drives them. The figure shows the bearing assembly 8 mounted on the guide bar 42 and which allows its rotation with respect to the support 40 and the handle bushing 39 of the structure 26. The adapter 45 of the distance of the support allows changing this spacing at the user's request. The detailed view shows the interaction of the pinion 15 with the rack and its support 23. In addition, the gear adapter bushing 17 is shown in greater detail. The connection between the motor and the pinion (See FIGURE 4) and the dummy (See FIGURE 2) with the structure that contains the rack (See FIGURE 3). By the combination of these three parts, the movement of each dummy is generated, driven by the information that the TX2, or similar, computer 65 sends to each motor 18.

Figure 7 shows an expanded view of the enclosure assembly formed by a support 51, a base 52 and a cover 53 that is fixed to the base by means of screws 54 and nuts 55. This enclosure cabinet encloses and protects the motor that drives the pinion actuator. The enclosure that covers the engine and pinion is shown in detail, protecting it from the sun, weather and dust from the environment.

Figure 8 shows the video camera 57 that is part of the assembly and that is fixed to a structure 56, protected by a cover 58 and retained to a grip 59 by means of screws 60 and nuts 61. The camera cabinet is shown in detail as well as chamber 57 that plays a key role in the operation of the barrier. The camera 57 detects the movement of the ball and sends the signal to the TX2 or similar computer 65, it processes the random code, or alternatively the code programmed by the APP 74, and sends the signal to the five motors 18 to move the dummies 1 randomly but simultaneously.

Figure 9 shows the cabinet that houses the electronics that automates the operation of the set and that receives the parameters and commands from the PC, Notebook, tablet or cell phone 57 that contains the APP software. The cabinet is formed by a base 63 fixed to the cabinet by screws 73 and a cover 64 fixed to the base by screws 72, and in which the electronics is formed by the TX2 ® or similar computer 65, an integrated circuit of drivers 66 that allows outputting the electrical command power signals to the motor, the transformer 67, a set of lights preferably of LEDs 69, an on/off switch 70, and an outlet 71. In the figure it may be seen the cabinet where the TX2 ® or similar computer 65 is located, the drivers 66 which communicate and send the signal from the TX2 ® computer or similar 65 to each of the five motors 18. In an alternative embodiment this cabinet is powered by 220V AC by means of a cable. In another alternative embodiment, the cabinet is powered by a pre-charged 12 VDC battery by which the barrier is free of being plugged to a power supply.

As mentioned above, the present invention also comprises a method for carrying out free kick practice.

The method comprises the steps of:

a) sending commands from a remote terminal (74) to the barrier arrangement, b) receiving data from the barrier arrangement in the remote terminal (74); and c) setting up parameters for the barrier arrangement by means of the remote terminal (74).

The step of sending commands to the barrier assembly comprises triggering the actuator mechanisms (3, 15) randomly.

The step of sending commands to the barrier assembly comprises triggering the actuator mechanisms (3, 15) in programmable sequences.

The step of sending commands to the barrier assembly comprises triggering the actuator mechanisms (3, 15) to raise the dummies (1) to different heights and speeds according to a command of the operator in situ.

The step of sending commands to the barrier assembly comprises triggering the actuator mechanisms (3, 15) to raise the dummies (1) to different heights and speeds according to a pre-programmed command of the operator.

The step of receiving data from the barrier arrangement comprises showing its connection status (connected - disconnected).

The step of setting up parameters of the barrier arrangement comprises setting different levels of height, difficulty and or position of the dummies for different types of training.

The step of receiving data from the barrier arrangement comprises collecting usage data for further being processed by a user in order to improve the kicking service, programs and training and configuration of player usage profiles that can be loaded and or saved for use at another time and facilitate training.

The step of setting up parameters of the barrier arrangement comprises choosing the mode of use thereof (automatic, static or manual).

The method also comprises a step of including a CHAT ® connection, an INSTAGRAM ® connection or FACEBOOK ® connection between players for sharing their statistics and profiles,

One of the most important aspects of the present invention is the application software (APP) that offers a functionality hitherto unknown in the art and allows carrying out the above described method. As mentioned above, the APP software can be installed on a desktop PC, on a portable PC (Notebook type), on a Tablet or on a cell phone. The functions that allow the use of the APP will be described in more detail below.

The APP for tablet or mobile phone is used as a control interface and configuration of the barrier, showing the state of connection with it, and once connected, allows the user to choose the way of using it (automatic, static or manual, for personal programming). The APP allows defining different jumping heights, positional difficulty and/or position of the dummy figures for different types of training.

The APP application software is also used as a means of collecting usage data for further processing by the trainer in order to improve service, programs and training. The APP allows the configuration of usage profiles that can be loaded and/or saved for use at another time and facilitate training.

The application is downloaded to a cellular (mobile) phone or Tablet and controls 100% of the barrier once it is activated. From the APP the terminal can control and program the different training formats, Automatic - Static - Manual. With these three commands (in an alternative embodiment there may be more commands included) the barrier can be used randomly, or else, programmed with the height of the five dummies chosen by each user.

Another function of the APP is that each player can store his performance profile in order to repeat past trainings and keep a register of his kickoffs. In an alternative embodiment the APP keeps a register of the successful free shots, for which the arrangement comprises an infrared camera aiming to the goal for verifying if each shot went into the goal or outside it.

In still another alternative embodiment each of the dummies comprises a sensor to determine the exact place where the ball was hit. This information, together with the help of the frontal camera that records the moment of the free shot, allows correcting the placement in which the player is hitting the ball to enhance his performance. All this information is recorded in the profile of each player in the APP.

Another function of the APP is that each player can have their kick video recorded (filmed) and the goalkeeper can have his movement filmed also, allowing to correct the position in which the kicker is impacting the ball to improve his performance and also allowing to correct the initial position and reaction of the goalkeeper, in summary the biomechanics of the players in action. All this information is registered in the profile of each player within the APP.

In another preferred embodiment, the APP software includes a CHAT function between players to be able to communicate their statistics and profiles, as well as a function that allows information to be shared to INSTAGRAM ® or FACEBOOK ®.
