Abstract:
[Problem] Base materials such as metal, glass, and stone materials which are used for building walls, floors, garden rocks, gravestones, stone walls, stone statues, objects of art, stone monuments, roads, and paving stones, have water-absorbent and hydrophilic properties, have the surfaces subjected to erosion and adhesion by mold, moss, algae, various germs, and other blemishes during use, and thus can suffer permeation of stains hard to remove even with washing. Accordingly, a great deal of time and cost were required for cleaning. Therefore, provided is a base material having an external appearance that can stay clean without requiring frequent cleaning. [Solution] Provided is a base material that is obtained by coating the surface with a coating agent which contains a photocatalyst material and an organic binder, that has a water-repellent surface repelling water, and that has an excellent self-cleaning function of decomposing smudges by the decomposition action of the photocatalyst.
