Description:
BASKETBALL TRAINING DEVICE

TECHNICAL FIELD TO WHICH THE INVENTION RELATES

The field of technology to which the invention relates generally belongs to the field of sports equipment intended for the training of basketball players; in particular, it is a device intended for all categories of basketball players which corrects ball throw to the basket, primarily in indoor conditions.

According to the International Patent Classification (IPC, 2020.01), the subject of the invention is classified and marked with the basic classification symbol A63B 23/00, which is used for exercise devices specially adapted for certain parts of the body, as well as with the secondary classification symbol A63B 65/12, which includes equipment for throwing the ball with or without catching.

TECHNICAL PROBLEM

The technical problem that is solved by the present invention is the following: how to construct a training device for basketball players of all categories with which they will acquire the routine of proper ball throwing, while training alone, without the help and presence of the coach and other persons, and which would increase the possibility of faster repetition of the exercise in a short time, correct ball throw, and would not require a person who collects and passes the ball; in addition, such a device is consistent, it can be installed in apartments and small rooms, its maintenance does not require specially trained service technicians, and it is simple and safe to use, so it can be used effectively by professional basketball players, but also children of all ages.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Today, basketball is one of the leading sports in the world with a tendency to be even more popular. The construction of modern basketball halls created the conditions for it to be played throughout the year, which also significantly contributed to the spread of its popularity. Like other sports equipment, sports equipment in the field of basketball is constantly being improved with the intention of increasing the number of basketball players who practice at the same time, while reducing the number of people who perform control and supervision during training.

Given the above, it is surprising to learn that despite a careful review of professional literature and propaganda materials of well-known manufacturers of sports equipment in the subject area, no auxiliary equipment for basketball training relevant to the present invention was found.

By searching the available patent documentation in the subject area, the following was found:

U.S. Patent Application US 2019247730 A1 , published on 15 August 2019, discloses a device for training basketball shooting that consists of a stand with vertical and oblique rails and a mechanism for holding the ball that allows imitation of throwing the ball to the basket. The vertical part of the device is the part where the basketball player prepares to throw the ball, which is then pushed by a sliding holder along the bent rail of the device, imitating the flight of the ball, which returns to the starting position after reaching the top of the bent part of the bar, sliding downwards. The device also has a part in which the forearm is inserted for a proper hand position. Careful analysis of this invention shows limited arm movement, exercise restraint, i.e. poor simulation that has more effect on gaining strength than proper throwing routine.

In Chinese Application WO 2019/206287 published on 31 October 2019, the same applicant presented a simpler construction of a device for training the throwing of a basketball during a shot, for which the same conclusion applies as for the previous application, with the additional observation that the device is complicated, difficult to maintain, with inadequate imitation of a shot, and at the same time fixed to the floor in order to achieve stability. The main disadvantage is reflected in the relatively short imitation of the flight of the ball, which significantly reduces the possibility of motion correction during throwing.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The essence of the invention is reflected in the fact that in accordance with the inventive idea, the device consists of the following: a mobile stand with vertical support on whose upper, free end the holder of the elbow position corrector is fixed, with a movable arm of the lever of the ball holder and the ball, by which the player in the basketball position (half squat) takes a position in front of the device so that the elbow of the shooting arm is in the corrector, which does not allow movement to the left or right, and then the player raises the elbow following the corrector stops and extends his arm completely, throwing the ball out with his wrist, which rotates in the process. The shooting process ends in a standing position, which almost perfectly imitates shooting at the basket during the game.

The essence of the invention is that by selecting the height of the holder of the elbow position corrector and the ball holder lever, the device easily adapts to the height of the person who trains, so it is effectively applicable to all categories of basketball players, from children to professional players.

A significant feature of the invention is the elbow position corrector, which enables the unobstructed extension of the arm, the corresponding position of the wrist, and throwing with the rotation of the ball during the throw. This type of exercise with the help of this device is performed without a coach because the corrector ensures the proper position of the player's arm.

The novelty of the invention is that the use of the device significantly increases the number of throws in training, which is important for perfecting the shot; it is important to emphasize that the shape of the ball holder is such that the player feels as if he was shooting with a real ball, while the speed of returning the ball and the resistance during the throw is regulated by a small weight placed on the bar of the ball holder.

The essence of the invention is also the fact that the ball returns to the initial position under the action of gravity after reaching the highest point. Thanks to that, the impression is created that a person passes the ball from the side, and in that way, the presence of a person who would normally collect the ball during training is avoided.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

This invention solves the above technical problem completely.

As can be easily seen by looking at the attached figures, the subject device 1 for basketball training consists of the following basic parts: a mobile stand 2 with a vertical bracket 3 on whose upper, free end the holder 4 of the elbow position corrector 5 lever 25 is fixed, as well as the movable arm 6 lever 7 ball holder with ball 8.

The mobile stand 2, figures 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, consists of a lattice construction made of steel boxes of rectangular cross-section, the central part of which represents the base 12 which viewed from above has the appearance of a horizontal Cyrillic letter "H" (N) with parallel sides 9, in the middle connected by vertical reinforced 10. The free ends of the sides 9 are interconnected by connecting rectangular metal plates 11 on which openings 14 are made, through which the base 12 is bolted to parallel horizontal stabilizers 13, at the ends of which parallel triangular wheel 16 holders 15 are also bolted from below, which allow easy and simple movement of the device 1 to the place of training. On the wheels 16 oriented towards the trainee, there are mechanical brakes 17. A vertical bearing 19 of the vertical bracket 3 is fixed perpendicularly to the upper surface of the reinforcement 10 by means of screws, the consistency of which is additionally achieved by lateral triangular reinforcements 38 fixed to the perpendicular reinforcement 10 by means of screws. The bearing 19 is designed as a vertical metal box whose upper free end is open, while at the opposite, lower end, there is a side threaded lock 23 which easily and simply, after insertion into the bearing 19 opening, secures the lower holder 43 to which the shorter, bent ends are fastened at the top by means of screws threaded through the connecting plates 20, opposite the lateral reinforcing metal braces 21, the lower ends of which are bolted to the stabilizers 13 by means of plates 22. Through the opening on the lower holder 43, a vertical support 3 is inserted, and after selecting the height, it is fixed by a side threaded lock 23. The upper end of the vertical bracket 3 is passed through the holder 4 in the shape of a horizontal Cyrillic letter "IT' (P), and its most favourable position or height, in accordance with the height of the person performing the training, is determined by the side threaded lock 24. Figures 13, 14, 15 and 16 show that at the lower end of the holder 4 there is an integral perpendicular support 40 in the free end of which the lever 25 of the corrector 5 of the basketball player's arm and elbow position is inserted and fixed by a threaded lock 41, to which the base 26 is bolted with lateral, vertically oriented stops 27 which form metal bars in the shape of inverted Latin letters "U" with bent upper edges. On the upper side of the base 26, a cushion 29 is attached on which the elbow rests, while between the arms of the stop 27, in the middle, there are cloth side strips 39.

Figures 13, 17, 18 and 19 show that there is a laterally fixed roller sleeve 30 to the upper end of the holder 4 with a shaft 31 inserted in the centre which pivotally connects parallel lugs 32 on the sloping end of the arm 6 made of a metal box of a square cross-section in the opening of which a lever 7 is inserted on the opposite side and fixed with a threaded lock 42, with circular holes 34 on the shorter, bent end 33 through which the bracket 35 in the shape of the modified letter "S" of the ball 8 retainer 36 is fastened with screws. Above the roller sleeve 30, the stop 45 with a rubber protector 46 is obliquely fixed to the holder 4, most preferably by welding. On the upper side of lever 7, by means of a threaded lock 28, a weight 18 is movably fixed, which regulates the speed of returning the ball and the resistance during "throwing". In order to eliminate the stagnation of the ball 8, at the highest "dead point", the return of the lever 7 to the initial state is additionally reinforced by a side spring 44, one end of which is fixed to the arm 6, and the other end to the holder 4. At the narrower end of the ball retainer 36, in the shape of a modified cone, a bearing 37 is inserted which allows the ball 8 to rotate when imitating throwing, while at its wider end there is a funnel end 47 to which the ball 8 is fastened, most preferably by glueing.

This basketball training device enables the proper position of the arm, which is important for acquiring a routine when throwing the ball and contributes to the efficiency of scoring baskets. In that way, the obligations and the presence of the coach are reduced during the training, and at the same time, the need for the existence of a person who collects balls and passes them to the player in order to repeat the movement that is being practised is eliminated.

The device is used in the following manner: the player in the basketball position (half squat) takes a position in front of device 1 , with the elbow of the shooting arm in the corrector 5 (so that it is fixed and does not allow movement to the left or right); then the elbow is raised vertically following the stop 27, and then after extending the arm completely, the ball 8 is thrown with the wrist so that it rotates. The player begins the process of shooting in a basketball position (half squat) and finishes it in a standing position.

METHOD OF INDUSTRIAL OR OTHER APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION

Industrial production of this invention is absolutely possible in well-equipped metalworking workshops or specialized factories for the production of sports equipment. The device can be made easily according to the workshop documentation by experts in the field using the description and drawings in this application.

The invention is suitable for serial production and its use is especially recommended in cases of lack of suitable sports halls for training, or in cases of cramped sports halls.

The invention is also very useful for practising in the rooms where players stay and where they can use it in their free time.

Due to the easy adaptation for all ages, placing several such mobile devices in larger rooms in schools would significantly relieve school gyms, and enable children to train basketball in a quality way.
