This method involves a step for acquiring a benchmark elevation that is a batter board reference height by using a surveying system 1 that includes a surveying device 200 and a terminal device 100 that can communicate with the surveying device 200; a step for acquiring a first elevation difference, which is the elevation difference from the benchmark to the current line of the ground surface; a step for acquiring a second elevation difference, which is the elevation difference from the current line of the ground surface to the batten top position of a batter board post, measuring the elevation of the post heads of the installed batter board posts and acquiring the elevation of the post heads; a third elevation difference calculation step for calculating the difference in height from the post heads to the batten top position of the batter board posts on the basis of the benchmark elevation, the first elevation difference, the second elevation difference and the post head elevation; and a third elevation difference display step for displaying the third elevation difference on a screen of the terminal device.
