Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel battery container which is obtained by welding plated steel sheets, which has sufficient long-term sealing characteristics, and in which a base-material metal of the plated steel sheets is prevented from being exposed and eluted into an electrolyte. Provided is a battery case comprising a container body and a container lid, wherein: the container body and the container lid comprise plated steel sheets; a joint of the container and the container lid comprises a plating welded portion which contains not less than 60 mass% of a main constituent component of the plating and a steel sheet welded portion which contains less than 60 mass% of the main constituent component of the plating; and the plating welded portion has a length of not less than 0.5 μm and less than 1.0 mm in the longitudinal direction of the joint.
