Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a battery energy storage system capable of, in a 3-phase 4-wire grid, controlling and storing each inter-phase power by a single device. [Solution] A battery energy storage system (1) stores 3-phase 4-wire grid power and supplies power independently to each phase of the grid. The battery energy storage system comprises: a TOP battery and a BOTTOM battery connected in series; inverters (12u, 12v, 12w) for converting the DC powers of the TOP battery and the BOTTOM battery connected in series to the AC powers of the respective phases; and gate control circuits (11u, 11v, 11w) for independently controlling the switching operation of the respective inverters. In the battery energy storage system, a midpoint of the connection between the TOP battery and the BOTTOM battery is grounded as a neutral point, and each of the inverters has a 2-in-1 configuration in which two semiconductor elements each constituted by a switching element and a free-wheel diode are cascaded.
