Abstract:
A battery management system, according to the present invention, comprises: a battery monitor; a balancer; and a control circuit for controlling the balancer. The control circuit: determines first voltage values representing the respective no-load voltages of batteries; compensates for the first voltage values of the batteries by using the respective balancing capacities of the batteries which are based on a balancing treatment carried out during a recent reference time; determines voltage deviations which are the respective differences between the compensated first voltage values of the batteries and a reference voltage value; and may detect an internal short circuit fault in each of the batteries by comparing variations in the respective voltage deviations of the batteries during the reference time with a threshold value.
