Title:
BELLOWS RUBBER HOSE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1986/002037
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Bellows rubber hose having all the outer peripheral surface thereof constituted by a smooth surface and a method of manufacturing the bellows rubber hose. A typical conventional bellows rubber hose can be manufactured only by a split-mold method, which unavoidably involves a parting line formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof. The conventional bellows rubber hose is, therefore, neither strong nor attractive. In the method of the present invention, only a mandrel is employed which serves as an inner mold having a hollow inside and small bores for providing communication between the inside and the outside air. An unvulcanized rubber hose is fitted on the outer periphery of the mandrel and is then vulcanized. During the vulcanization, the pressure in the hollow portion is made lower than the outside pressure, whereby the rubber hose is brought into close contact with the mandrel such as to be formed into a desired shape. This method makes it possible to form not only a bellows rubber hose having a single layer but also one having a plurality of layers. The bellows rubber hose of the invention is both strong and attractive and is therefore suitably employed as, for example, a conduit for guiding various kinds of fluid.
