Mode for the Invention

[20] Hereinafter, an explanation on a bent scissors according to the present invention will be given with reference to the attached drawings.

[21] FIG.1 is a perspective view showing a structure of a bent scissors according to the present invention, and FIGS.2 and 3 are front views showing the use states of the bent scissors of FIG.l. Especially, FIG.2 is a front view showing a state of cutting off a food stuff or article, and FIG.3 is a front view showing a state after completely cutting off the food stuff or article.

[22] Unlike a conventional scissors, according to the present invention, there are provided a scissors 10 having an upper scissor piece 12 and a lower scissor piece 14, wherein at least one of the upper scissor piece 12 and the lower scissor piece 14 is formed bent so as to define a space portion 30 between an upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 and a lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 to allow a food stuff to be cut off to be confined therein.

[23] As shown in FIG.l, the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 is formed bent in such a manner as to be rounded downwardly, and the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 is formed bent to a relatively lower degree than the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 in such a manner as to be rounded downwardly. In this case, the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 is rounded in the same direction as a direction in which the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 is rounded in such a manner as to be bent to a relatively lower degree than the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14, so that the cutting

operation is conducted well when compared as the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 being bent in such a manner as to be rounded in the direction opposite to the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14. Also, the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 may be of course formed in a straight line.

[24] In more detail, if the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 are bent rounded in the directions opposite to each other, a tough or hard food stuff is caught and slipped in the space portion 30 between the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a, and at the limit point where slipping can not happen, the food stuff is cut off at once. At this time, the cutting operation needs a substantially strong force. However, if the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 is bent in such a manner as to be rounded in the same direction as the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 or if one of the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 is formed in a straight line, the tough or hard food stuff is partially cut as pushed at the limit point where slipping can not happen and then, it is completely cut off at the time when reaches the limit place, thereby uniformly and gently cutting off the food stuff.

[25] Like this, one or both of the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 and the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 is (are) bent in such a manner as to be rounded in the same direction as each other, and thus, if the space portion 30 containing the food stuff to be cut off therein is formed between the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14, the food stuff caught in the space portion 30 is smoothly cut off. In this case, however, the respective front end portions of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 first abut with each other in such a manner as to be locked to each other. As a result, the cutting operation can not be further carried out.

[26] To solve this problem, according to the present invention, on the respective front end portions of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 are formed inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18, and as shown in the attached drawings, the inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18 are formed opposite to the inclined edge faces on the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14.

[27] An explanation on the formation of the inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18 will be in detail given with reference to FIG.4.

[28] FIG.4 is a sectional view taken along the lines A-A and B-B of FIG.2.

[29] If the upper scissor piece 12 and the lower scissor piece 14 are operated cross each other by the manipulation of upper and lower handle grip parts 20, the upper blade edge 12a of the upper scissor piece 12 and the lower blade edge 14a of the lower scissor piece 14 abut with each other, while coming into close contact with each other with respect to a cutting line CL, as shown in FIG.4a, so that the food stuff disposed

between the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a can be effectively cut off.

[30] At this time, however, the inner sides of the respective front end portions of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 of the bent scissors 10 are partially over the cutting line CL by the close contact between the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a, as shown in FIG.4b. Therefore, if the existing upper blade edge 12a and the lower blade edge 14a are still adopted in the present invention, they are over the cutting line CL and are locked to each other, thereby conducting no further cutting operation.

[31] So as to solve this problem, according to the present invention, the inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18 on the respective front end portions of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 are formed opposite to the inclined faces of the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14. As shown in FIG.4b, the inclined face of the inclined guide edge portion 16 of the upper scissor piece 12 is formed opposite to the inclined face of the upper blade edge 12a, and the inclined face of the inclined guide edge portion 18 of the lower scissor piece 14 is formed opposite to the inclined face of the lower blade edge 14a.

[32] Further, the upper portions of the inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18 are formed curved as shown in FIG.4b, thereby preventing a user s hand from being cut or hurt by the inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18.

[33] Under the structure of the front end portions of the upper and lower scissor pieces

12 and 14 as mentioned above, the food stuff is guided along the inclined faces of the inclined guide edge portions 16 and 18 formed on the front end portions upon cutting the food stuff, and the upper and lower blade edges of the front end portions of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 do not abut with each other, without any locking to each other, so that the food stuff is caught in the space portion 30 formed between the upper and lower blade edges 12a and 14a of the upper and lower scissor pieces 12 and 14 and is easily and safely cut off, without any further pushing.

[34] While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiment wherein the bent scissors serve to cut off food stuffs, it should be understood that they can cut off all kinds of articles. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
