Description:
Binding tie in particular for connecting ends of a binder twine .

Field of the Invention

[ 0001 ] The present invention relates to a binding tie in particular for connecting ends of a binder twine for binding bales of hay and straw in balers .

Background of the Invention

[ 0002 ] Binder twines , especially for binding bales of hay and straw, are currently supplied as a reel . Ends of the twine are either free or they are attached usually by means of laminated stickers to the cover of the reel . The stickers are hazardous waste that remains in the field and it can get into the bales of hay and straw . Therefore , they present a real health hazard and they can even cause death of livestock .

[ 0003 ] The free ends are usually short and hidden under the reel cover . During loading into the baler, the ends of the twine need to be released and tied . When loading the reels into the baler and mutually engaging the reels , there are problems with releasing the end of the twine entrapped under the plastic cover of the reel . Consequently, the cuf f of the cover has to be torn in order for a longer part of the twine to be released, to connect the ends of the binder twine . After the twine is pulled out , it is tied to another reel . However, the cuf f has also a stabili zing function that is impaired when the cover is torn . In the final phase , the reel can collapse , the rest of the twine can wind up, and consequently, some parts of the baler can be damaged . [0004] There are binding ties, for example cable ties described in EP 2583909. They are plastic ties provided with a band with ribs, a head with a through slot to engage the band. Some types of seals are designed similarly. Mostly it is a flat binding tie with locking teeth on the inner or outer surface of the tie. A tooth or projection of a blocking mechanism engages into spaces between the locking teeth. There are small structural differences between individual embodiments. Disadvantages of those ties include especially the material used, higher purchase price, higher weight, and storage requirements. Also, the manipulation with such ties, especially when pushing then into the slot, requires higher attention and a sharp instrument is needed to break the tie.

[0005] There are also binding ties with teeth located on the sides of the tie, such as in CN 202987834. It relates to a tie provided with plurality of holes enabling attachment of the tie. Disadvantages of this solution include especially the material, higher purchase price, and a need of an instrument to break the tie.

[0006] Then there are ties provided with an adhesive layer used for example to label luggage in air transport, for identification of visitors of various social and sports events, or patients in a hospital. A disadvantage is again the material used that is dangerous for livestock, and a large amount of waste. Sharp instruments are needed to tear those ties, too.

Summary of the Invention

[0007] The shortcomings stated above are removed to a great extent by a binding tie in particular for connecting the ends of a binder twine for binding bales of hay and straw in balers according to claim 1 . The principle is that the binding tie consists of a paper band provided with an elongated body, the longitudinal sides of the body contain locking teeth and on one end of the body there is a head provided with a through opening in the shape of the letter T , the length of the stalk of the T corresponds to the outer width of the band and the length of the transverse part of the T corresponds to the width of the band between opposite teeth spaces .

[ 0008 ] In a preferred embodiment , the elongated body is provided with a narrowed leading part on its other end .

[ 0009 ] Preferably the binding tie is made of non-laminated paper and of ecologically degradable paper .

[ 0010 ] The binding tie enables to improve the system of unbinding free ends of the twine for binding bales of hay and straw prior to loading to sel f-tying balers . One end of the twine emerges from the cavity of the reel of the wound twine and the other end forms the termination on the outer part of the reel . After both ends of the binder twine are tied by means of the binding tie , the tied ends of the twine together with the binding tie are loaded into the cavity of the twine reel . Before the binder twine reel adj usted in this way is loaded into the container of the sel f-tying baler, the ends of the twine connected by means of the binding tie are taken out from the wound twine reel cavity and both ends of the tied twine are released by a slight tug because the paper binding tie gets torn, and the tie can be left in the field . The binding tie is made of nonlaminated paper which is an eco-friendly material that is easily degradable in the nature . Plurality of reels of wound binder twine are loaded into the sel f-tying baler container with free ends that are gradually tied by the operator of the baler for future use in the sel f-tying baler .

[ 0011 ] The advantage of this solution is especially harmlessness for livestock and only ecologically decomposable waste . Other advantages include low purchase price , small dimensions and weight facilitating storage and transport . A substantial advantage is easy manipulation both during binding and when the band is torn, without the need of other instruments .

Brief description of the Drawings

[ 0012 ] Binding tie for connecting ends of a binder twine for binding bales of hay and straw in balers according to the present technical solution will be described in more details by means of speci fic examples of embodiments with reference to accompanying drawings , where Figure 1 illustrates an example tie and Figure 2 illustrates the tie on a twine reel .

Description of the Preferred Embodiments

[ 0013 ] The example binding tie for connecting ends of a binder twine for binding bales of hay and straw in balers consists of a paper band _1 provided with an elongated body 2_, the longitudinal sides of the body contain one-sided locking teeth 3_ and on one end of the body there is a head -4 provided with a through opening _6 in the shape of the letter T . The length of the stalk of the T corresponds to the outer width of the band _1 and the length of the transverse part of the T corresponds to the width of the band _1 between opposite teeth spaces . The elongated body 2_ is provided with a narrowed leading part 5 on its other end . The binding tie is made of non-laminated, ecologically degradable paper .

[ 0014 ] The binding tie enables to improve the system of unbinding free ends of the twine for binding bales of hay and straw prior to loading to sel f-tying balers . The binding tie serves for binding free ends of the binder twine , wherein one end of the twine emerges from the cavity of the reel of the wound twine and the other end forms the termination on the outer part of the reel . After both ends of the binder twine are tied by means of the binding tie , the tied ends of the twine together with the binding tie are loaded into the cavity of the twine reel . Be fore the binder twine reel adj usted in this way is loaded into the container of the sel f-tying baler, the ends of the twine connected by means of the binding tie are taken out from the wound twine reel cavity and both ends of the tied twine are released by a slight tug because the paper binding tie gets torn, and the tie can be left in the field . The binding tie is made of non-laminated paper which is an eco- friendly material that is easily degradable in the nature . Plurality of reels of wound binder twine are loaded into the sel ftying baler container with free ends that are gradually tied by the operator of the baler for future use in the sel f-tying baler .

Industrial Applicability

[ 0015 ] The binding tie according to the present invention is applicable especially in connecting ends of a binder twine for binding bales of hay and straw in sel f-tying baler .
