Abstract:
The biometric authentication system according to the present invention comprises: a server 2 that stores registered biometric information that is biometric information registered in advance and identification information in association with each other; and a biometric authentication device 1 that performs biometric authentication. The biometric authentication device 1 comprises: a storage unit 15 that stores a plurality of pieces of registered biometric information; a sensor 12 that acquires biometric information of a user as input biometric information; an input device 11 that acquires identification information of the user; and a collation unit 14 that collates the registered biometric information with the input biometric information. The collation unit 14 determines whether or not the identification information of the user has been acquired. When the identification information has not been acquired, the collation unit 14 performs 1 : many authentication that collates the plurality of pieces of registered biometric information stored in the storage unit 15 with the input biometric information, and when the identification information has been acquired, the collation unit 14 acquires the registered biometric information corresponding to the identification information of the user from the server and performs 1 : 1 authentication using the acquired registered biometric information. Further, before a sensor 1 acquires the input biometric information, the collation unit 14 controls a transmission/reception unit 16 to receive the plurality of pieces of registered biometric information used for the 1 : many authentication.
