Description:

BIRTH TO 3 YEARS CHILD'S CAR SEAT Description

Car Seats for Children come in many different solutions and for all ages from birth to 10 years. There are a number of Car Seats, which provide portability in combination with a stroller, however these are out grown after about 12 months requiring the purchase of a second Car Seat suitable for the Child from 1 to 3 years.

Parents can buy Car Seats which are suitable from birth to 3 years, however in the most part these do not offer a portable seat which fits a stroller.

A recent development presents Car Seat for this age which does not offer a portable seat and which combines with a compatible structure to create a seat suitable for the older child. The secondary L shaped structure referred to as a fixed base requires the user to rearrange the configuration when fitted in the vehicle.

This new design enables the user to fit the L shape structure in the vehicle in only one configuration. Requiring only the positioning of one element to make the fixed base suitable for receiving the portable seat.

The invention describes an L shaped structure with a longer element 5 compatible with the vehicle seat back and the shorter element 2 compatible with the vehicle seat cushion. The longer element 5 supports a headrest 4, which may be foldable to remove any obstruction when the seat 1 is being used as a portable carrier. Added to the L shaped structure is a load-bearing element 3, which pivots at 7 and is moveable along the longer element 5 so that it can be changed for a generally diagonal brace in the one condition to that of a generally horizontal brace in the second condition. When in the generally horizontal condition, the brace acts a support frame for the portable seat.

Fig 1 shows the combination of elements in the forward facing condition Fig 2 shows the combination in a rearward facing condition Fig 3 shows the seat insertion direction for each combination
