Provided is a blind rivet which can compress a member to be mounted using a sufficient amount of compressing force, the blind rivet being provided with a rivet main body (10) and a mandrel (20). The rivet main body (10) has a hollow sleeve (11) and a flange (12) formed at one end of the sleeve. The sleeve has a thin-walled portion (14) adjacent to the flange, and a thick-walled portion (15) provided at a side end side of the sleeve and having an inner diameter less than that of the thin-walled portion. The mandrel (20) has a thin and long shaft portion (21) having a diameter less than the inner diameter of the thin-walled portion, and a mandrel head portion (23) having a diameter greater than the inner diameter of the thick-walled portion. The mandrel head portion has a head portion slot (24) passing through the central axis of the mandrel. When the mandrel shaft portion is pulled out through a through-hole of the rivet main body, the diameter of the thick-walled portion is increased by means of the mandrel head portion such that the thick-walled portion becomes an expanded diameter portion (15a), the mandrel head portion is reduced in diameter by being bent in the head portion slot, and the mandrel head portion is pulled out through the through-hole of the rivet main body without being broken from the shaft portion.
