Abstract:
This brake device is for use in a brake-by-wire system (1) and comprises a housing (33), a brake pedal (31), a sensor (32), a reaction force generation member (40), and a reaction force changing mechanism (50). The housing (33) is attached to a vehicle body. The brake pedal (31) is rotatably mounted to the housing (33), and is not mechanically connected to a hydraulic pressure generation device (14, 15, 18, 19). The sensor (32) outputs a signal corresponding to a stroke amount of the brake pedal (31) to an electronic control device (20, 21, 22). The reaction force generation member (40) has one end connected to the brake pedal 31 and another end connected to the housing 33, and generates a reaction force against a treading force applied to the brake pedal (31) by a driver. The reaction force changing mechanism (50), as well as generating a reaction force against the treading force applied to the brake pedal (31) by the driver, is capable of changing the magnitude of the reaction force in accordance with the driver beforehand.
