Abstract:
Provided is a branching device such that it is possible to reduce belt mistracking in the branching device and achieve an excellent branch conveyance state, such as maintaining the orientation of an object to be conveyed during branching. This branching device comprises: a pair of end pulleys which are turnable in opposite directions about a common axis; an endless belt which is stretched between the endless pulleys; and a pair of intermediate free rollers which are arranged between the end pulleys and fold back the belt so that the travel direction of the belt becomes perpendicular to the rotational axis of the end pulleys. The distance between the respective axes of the intermediate free rollers and the common axis serving as the turning center of the end pulleys is set so that the extension angle of the belt is almost equal to the winding angle of the belt. Furthermore, the frictional coefficient of the outside surface of the endless belt is set to be equal to or higher than that of the inside surface.
