The present application relates to a broadcast receiving apparatus. When an adjustment of the image quality of each scene is made during the display of an image, the specificity of the scene and the influence of the time required for starting an applicable adjustment are avoided, and the apparatus is applicable to a suitable adjustment. The broadcast receiving apparatus comprises: a storage portion, which stores, in an associated manner, the category of a scene and settings related to an adjustment of the image quality of the scene, and stores, in an associated manner, the category of a scene that has a high probability of being displayed next in terms of the category of the scene; a current-scene identification portion, which identifies the category of the scene being displayed, i.e. the current scene; a next-scene prediction portion, which predicts, with reference to the storage portion, the category of a scene that is displayed after the current scene, i.e. the next scene; a next-scene setting preparation portion, which prepares, with reference to the storage portion, settings related to an adjustment of the image quality of the next scene; and an adjustment execution portion, which executes, at a specified moment, an adjustment, which is based on the settings prepared by the next-scene setting preparation portion, to the scene being displayed.
