Abstract:
A bumper reinforcement structure (11) has a body member (15) and support structures. The body member (15) is provided at the front or the rear of an automobile body, has an elongated shape extending in the widthwise direction of the automobile body, and is provided with a hit surface which is subjected to a load in the case of a collision of the vehicle. The support structures are configured so that loads applied to the body member (15) at the opposite ends of the body member (15) in the longitudinal direction thereof can be taken by the automobile body. The body member (15) has a hat-shaped cross-section open inward in the front-rear direction of the automobile body. Elongated plate-shaped reinforcement plates (30) which are respectively affixed to the upper and lower ends of the opening of the hat-shaped cross-section are provided in the longitudinal area of the body member (15), which is located at least between the support structures of the body member (15). The reinforcement plates (30) are separate members and are separated from each other.
