Description:
BURGLAR PREVENTION FOR WALL OPENINGS

The concerned invention refers to a metallic safety system for doors and windows and all types of frames and in the choice of suitable material for a more economical construction and maintenance.

Current window shutters or cylindrical shutters made of wooden, plastic materials and the method of their construction present important disadvantages like:

1. They do not offer satisfactory safety because of their low endurance to flexion and bending.

2. Intense problems have been observed in their color becoming yellowish as well as damage from exposure to the sun, in addition problems of corrosion from the saltiness of the sea nearby.

3. For the reason of proper ventilation and air conditioning in the interior of the dwelling especially in the summer months, opening the doors and windows, annuls safety, temporarily at least.

4. The permanent exterior rods have visible support screws on their base, as a result they can easily be taken apart and/or cat from potential burglars.

5. Also on account of the material used for construction with the passing of time it presents problems like corrosion at the support screws of their base, elements which renders their continuous and costly maintenance necessary.

ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION

a) The removable rods of the metallic safety systems for all types of wall cavities according to the current invention are characterized by the properties such as high endurance under pressure for the purpose of either bending or cutting with a hack - saw or other similar tools or a combination of these due to the rotation of the inner bar of steel.

b) The hidden inner support screws of the frame assure in all types of wall cavities the maximum protection against all the attempts of forced entry.

c) With the removal of the horizontal rods from the door or other frame likewise a window, the passing of persons and the movement of large objects is allowed. Also the cleaning of the glass and shutters becomes easier due to the easy access provided. In case of an earthquake or fire, people can escape the dwelling easily.

d) Another additional technical and economical advantage of the afore-mentioned safety system is the materials used and the methods in which they have been manufactured. The outer section consists of aluminium or other metallic material, while the surfaces of the material that come in contact between them are covered with plastic components. On the contrary during the manufacturing of the systems for the fitting of the different components those techniques such as electric welding are not used. A positive consequence of this is the prolonged stamina of the product's life, since more economical maintenance is provided at the allocated parts of the system and as a result this is a cost saving method in which the appearance of the material remains unaltered over the passing of time.

e) The safety system of the current invention allows for the freer passage of the air, yielding efficient the ventilation and air conditioning of the interior space of the dwelling, while at the same time it provides safety to the tenants. The plain, simple design and especially the coating of aluminium add to this system from a visual and architectural point of view, a familiar and aesthetically attractive result in comparison with the existing metallic safety structures (rods) of the state of the art.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS.

FIG. 1 depicts the metallic safety system with removable rods for all types of wall cavities which consists of two vertical aluminium profiles with holes (I) and the horizontal rods (M), plastic rings (8) and plastic covers (14).

FIG. 2 depicts the side section of the especially formed profile (I) the receptor (1) a blade of steel (6) which reinforces the front section of the frame, the receptor-guide (2) for the reinforcement mechanism (7) which reinforces the side section of the profile (I), the vertical reinforcement (3) with especially reinforced inner sides (4) in the sections where side reinforcement doesn't exist. Even the profile (I) has a wavy formation (5) at the point which supports the frame on the wall. So in case of forced entry with a crowbar it adsorbs any disfigurement and it prevents the screw from coming out of place or the frame from moving.

FIG. 3 shows the side of the reinforcement mechanism (7) the safety lock (9) and the way it connects with its reinforcement mechanism with the prosody screw (11), the stability with the metallic rivet (10) of the aluminium profile (I) and the hole in which the plastic ring is placed (8) so the rod slides in without damaging the color.

FIG. 4 depicts the cross-section vertical to the length of the aluminium profile (II) which consists of the outer part of the removable horizontal rod (M).

FIG. 5 depicts the cross-section vertical to the length of the removable steel rod and shows the inner reinforcement (12) of the rod (M), which rotates freely.

FIG. 6 depicts the plastic protective covers (13) of the inner reinforcement of the rod (12) when the rod is assembled.

FIG. 7 depicts the protective cover (14) that seals the top and bottom part of the profile (I).

FIG. 8 shows the slanting section of the profile (III) with the components (15), which allows for the adjustment of frames of different width.

CHARACTERIZATION OF COMMON COMPONENTS IN THE FIGURES

i. Two vertical aluminium profiles (I) with holes which consist of a steady frame system.

Alternatively other type of metallic material can be used in the place of aluminium. ii. Especially formed aluminium profile (I) which has a receptor (1) allowing for the placement of a blade (6) so that it reinforces the front part of the frame. iii. Horizontal removable rods (M) which are placed in the holes of the profile (I, I) and which are subsequently secured by a hidden safety lock (9). iv. Receptor - guide (2) for the reinforcement mechanism (7) of the side section of the profile (I). v. Vertical reinforcement (3) with particularly reinforced inner sides (4) at points where reinforcement of the sides is absent. The profile has a wavy formation (5) at the point of support for the frame on the wall so that in case of forced entry with different mechanism like a crowbar or an extractor, the pressure exerted will be absorbed or diminished, in this way avoiding the deformation of the frame and the screw from coming out or the frame from moving out of place. vi. Safety lock (9). vii. Plastic ring (8) that is placed in the holes so as to allow the rod to slide in without damaging the color. viii. Aluminium profile (II) with a diameter of 26 mm (0 26) and thickness 2 mm, which consists of the outer section of the removable rod FIG. 4. ix. A rod made of solid steel (12) with a diameter of 18 mm (0 18) which rotates freely and is placed in the inner section of the removable rod (M) for its reinforcement.

x. Protective plastic covers (13) of the removable rod (M) which retain its inner reinforcement ( 12) in place. xi. Protective covers (14) which seals the top and bottom part of the profile (I). xii. Aluminium profile (III) with component (15) which allows for the adjustment of frames of different width.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

In one of the two vertical aluminium profiles (I) which consists of a fixed frame, the lock is placed by using a milling machine to make holes 30 mm (0 30) in diameter for every 150 mm in the front section as well as an opening 1 1 mm (0 1 1 ) in diameter for the keyhole by drilling simultaneously the reinforcement (3) of the profile (I). On the back side are made holes with 8.5 mm (0 8.5) in diameter for every 150 mm (so as to secure it to the wall or to the frame) also a hole with 4 mm (0 4) in diameter so as to secure the lock (9) on to the profile (I).

On the blade (6) as well as on the reinforcement mechanism (7) holes are there of 33 mm (0 33) in diameter spaced evenly every 150 mm. Also, two holes are in the reinforcement mechanism (7) for the key to go through and one to connect the reinforcement mechanism to the lock (9). In addition another hole is in the blade (6) so the key may go through from the front section.

Next, is connected the lock (9) to the mechanism (7) with a prosody screw (11) placing it in the aluminium profile (I) which is stabilized with a metallic rivet (10). The blade (6) is placed in the aluminium profile (I) and the plastic rings FIG. 3 (8) are placed over the holes of the profile FIG.l (I). Finally, the top and bottom section of the profile (I) are sealed with the protective covers (14).

On the fixed frame, where the reinforcement mechanism (7) has been stabilized as stated above, holes are there 30 mm (0 30) in diameter for every 150 mm in the front section of the profile (I) while on the back side holes are there being 8.5 mm (0 8.5) in diameter for every 150 mm for its stability (whether it is on the wall or on the frame) and one hole 4 mm (0 4) in diameter for the stability of the reinforcement mechanism (7) onto the aluminium profile (I).

On the blade (6) holes 33 mm (0 33) in diameter spaced evenly every 150 mm are there while in the reinforcement mechanism (7) openings 18 mm (0 18) in diameter spaced evenly every 150 mm are there. Next, the reinforcement mechanism (7) is placed in the profile (I) to stabilize the vertical reinforcement (3) of the profile (I) using a hidden bolt (0 4) and closing the hole on the back side with a metallic rivet. The blade (6) of the profile (I) and the plastic rings (8) are placed in the front of profile (I). Finally, the profile (I) is sealed on the top and the bottom with the protective covers (14).

For the construction of the horizontal rods the profile (II) is cut as is the interior reinforcement (12) to the proper dimensions and then are placed on them protective plastic covers (13) so the interior reinforcement is retained without obstructing its ability to rotate freely.

During the installation of the metallic safety system of removable rods on the frame screwing is performed through the openings 8.5 mm (0 8.5) in diameter and at a distance every 150 mm on the back side of the vertical profile frame (I) to stabilize the two side frames on the wall. In case where there are differences in the width, the profile (III) is used with component (15) so that the leveling of the frame is correctly achieved. Next, firstly is placed - through the frame with the lock - the horizontal rod and then it is moved in the opposite direction so it stops at the fixed mechanism inside the frame which does not have a lock. By locking the system, the mechanism drops and prevents the movement of the rod, while simultaneously, the stabilization of the system has successfully been hidden.
