Abstract:
The present invention relates to a bus system connected by a mechanical link, and a device and a method for controlling the bus system and, more specifically, to a device and a method wherein, in operating a bus system comprising a leading vehicle driven by a driver and a driverless trailing vehicle connected to the leading vehicle by a mechanical link, the leading vehicle and the trailing vehicle are each controlled such that the trailing vehicle is autonomously driven on the basis of sensor information and information associated with the leading vehicle. The present invention provides a bus system which: can reduce the manufacturing unit cost and allows smooth maintenance; can ensure safety when an unexpected malfunction or error of the system occurs; can minimize the road width occupied by a vehicle when the vehicle turns and allows the vehicle to smoothly drive on an inclined road, thereby preventing loss of dynamic performance of the vehicle, compared to an existing typical bus; and allows a driver to drive the vehicle without requiring additional training or caution on the part of the driver.
