Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a butadiene production method capable of reducing the emission amount of carbon dioxide. [Solution] This butadiene production method comprises: an electrolytic reduction step 2 for producing ethylene and oxygen through electrolytic reduction using carbon dioxide and water as raw materials; a butene generation step 3 for generating butene by dimerizing ethylene generated in the electrolytic reduction step; a mixing step 4 for preparing a gas mixture by mixing oxygen generated in the electrolytic reduction step, butene generated in the butene generation step, and air; and a butadiene generation step 5 for generating butadiene by heating the gas mixture to oxidatively dehydrogenate butene. Carbon dioxide produced as a by-product in the butadiene generation step is used as a portion of the raw materials in the electrolytic reduction step.
