Abstract:
The present invention relates to a button-type secondary battery wherein an upper can is coupled to a lower can when an electrode assembly is mounted in the lower can. The button-type secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly comprising an anode, a separator, and a cathode which are wound while being stacked; a lower can in which the electrode assembly is mounted and which has a space part formed as an extra space, in addition to a space in which the electrode assembly is mounted; an upper can coupled to the lower can so as to close the lower can while the electrode assembly is mounted in the lower can and an electrolyte is injected therein; and a swelling member mounted in the lower can while being coupled to the outer surface of the electrode assembly, wherein, when an electrolyte is injected, the swelling member absorbs the electrolyte and swells in the space part. In the button-type secondary battery of the present invention which has the above-described technical feature, the swelling member absorbs the electrolyte and swells in the upper can and the lower can, and thus can absorb an external impact transferred to the electrode assembly. Therefore, the electrode assembly can be prevented from being damaged, and the durability of the secondary battery can be further improved.
