Abstract:
A metallic cam block of arcuate cam shape used for open/close control of valve in an internal combustion engine. The contour is sheared into an arcuate cam shape by pressing a thick plate metallic working material B by means of a punch (10) and a plate retainer (11) on one hand and pressing it while receiving by means of a die (12) and a reverse retainer (13). When a working material (blank) B is pressed by means of the punch (10) and the reverse retainer (13), a columnar protrusion (16a) corresponding to a recess (10a) in the punch (10) is formed on one plate face at an extended part (16), and the other plate face is punched by means of a protrusion (13b) of the reverse retainer (13) to make a shaft insertion hole (17). At the same time, a recess (16b) is made right behind the protrusion (16a) by semi-punching the other plate face by means of a protrusion (13a), biasing of metal in the direction of the forward end position (16c) of the extended part (16) is blocked and occurrence of ruptured section is prevented at the punching section.
