Abstract:

A camshaft phaser and a working method therefor. An oil storage part (P) and controllable oil paths (P1, P2) are formed inside a rotor (20) of the camshaft phaser, and each first oil cavity (A) and each second oil cavity (B) can be controllably communicated/closed with the oil storage part (P) via different controllable oil paths (P1, P2). When the controllable oil paths (P1, P2) are communicated, the controllable oil paths (P1, P2) can be in a first communication mode, and in this case, oil pressure is utilized to only allow oil to flow from the oil storage part (P) into the corresponding oil cavities (A, B) via the controllable oil paths (P1, P2); and when the controllable oil paths (P1, P2) are communicated, the controllable oil paths (P1, P2) can also be in a second communication mode, and in this case, a torque of a camshaft (CS) can be utilized to enable oil to flow from the corresponding oil cavities (A, B) into the oil storage part (P). Thus, the desired flowing of oil between the two oil cavities (A, B) can be implemented by only utilizing the torque of the camshaft (CS), so that the camshaft phaser can obtain a desired phase modulation function. Therefore, compared with a camshaft phaser of the prior art, the camshaft phaser does not need to consume extra fuel, is simpler in structure, and is lower in cost.
