Abstract:
Provided is a can steel sheet 1 being excellent in not only weldability, but also surface appearance. The can steel sheet 1 comprises, in order from a steel sheet 2 side, a metal chromium layer 3 and a chromium hydrous oxide layer 4 which are disposed on a surface of the steel sheet 2. The amount of the metal chromium layer 3 attached is 50 to 200 mg/m2, the amount of the chromium hydrous oxide layer 4 attached in terms of chromium is 3 to 50 mg/m2. The metal chromium layer 3 includes a flat plate part 3a and protrusions 3b formed on the flat plate part 3a. The height H of the protrusions 3b is 10 nm or more but less than 500 nm, the base part diameter D of the protrusions 3b is 50 nm or more and 1000 or less, the ratio H/D between the height H and the base part diameter D is less than 0.50, and the area ratio of the protrusions 3b is 5% or more.
