Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To overcome problems that conventional cancer vaccines can only activate killer T cells or can only activate killer T cells and helper T cells and that there is no practically useful cancer vaccine preparation which is capable of activating antigen-presenting cells as well. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A preparation comprising a combination of a complex of a cancer antigen and a hydrophobized polysaccharide with a antigen-presenting cell-stimulating agent which is capable of binding to a Toll-like receptor can activate all of antigen-presenting cells, killer T cells and helper T cells (all of which are major cells involved in the induction and activation of antigen-specific immunity against cancer cells) to exhibit a potent vaccinal effect. The vaccine preparation can evoke immune response to cancer antigens, and particularly has effects of activation and induction of cytotoxic T cells and helper T cells. Therefore, the vaccine preparation can be used as a vaccine for treatment or prevention of cancer.
