Abstract:

The present invention relates to a cap assembly for a secondary battery, which is coupled to the opening end of a battery can in which an electrode assembly, the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate of which are disposed with a separator therebetween, is received. The cap assembly for a secondary battery includes: a top cap disposed on the uppermost portion in a protruding manner; a safety device disposed under the top cap and in contact with the top cap; a safety vent contacting the safety device; a current-blocking member, the upper portion of which is welded to the lower end of the safety vent, and the lower portion of which is connected to the electrode assembly; a first gasket surrounding the outer surface of the current-blocking member; and a second gasket which surrounds the top cap, the safety device, and the safety vent, and the lower end of which extends so as to surround the lower portion of the current-blocking member.
