Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a carbon dioxide separation method with which, during the separation of carbon dioxide from a mixed gas containing carbon dioxide and methane via membrane separation using an inorganic separation membrane, it is possible to keep the membrane area of the inorganic separation membrane at a low value while maintaining the driving force, which is the carbon dioxide partial pressure difference between the carbon dioxide non-permeable side and the carbon dioxide permeable side. [Solution] A separation membrane system having an inorganic separation membrane that is preferentially permeable to carbon dioxide from a mixed gas containing carbon dioxide and methane is used to carry out membrane separation such that the carbon dioxide partial pressure difference ΔP at the final outlet of the carbon dioxide non-permeable side is at least 1/5 of the carbon dioxide partial pressure (PX∙XCO2) of the carbon dioxide non-permeable side. Provided as a result is an inexpensive carbon dioxide separation method, with which it is possible to efficiently separate carbon dioxide while maintaining the driving force, which is the carbon dioxide partial pressure difference between the carbon dioxide non-permeable side and the carbon dioxide permeable side, and keeping the membrane area of the inorganic separation membrane that is used at a low value.
