Title:
Pt/CeO2/CONDUCTIVE CARBON NANOHETEROANODE MATERIAL AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2006/006739
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Conventional Pt/secondary component/conductive carbon anode materials for use in solid electrolytes for polymer fuel cell, various sensors, etc. have had difficult problems in some aspects, such as CO oxidation activity and cost. It is intended to provide a Pt/CeO2/conductive carbon nanoheteroanode material that is free from such problems and to provide a process for producing the same. As a result of intensive studies with a view toward solving the above problems of the prior art, it has been found that an inexpensive anode material with very high electrode activity can be produced by regulating the particle size of ceria (CeO2) to nano size and causing an electrode active material having nano-size Pt supported on this CeO2 to be dispersed on conductive carbon. Based on the finding, there has been completed a Pt/CeO2/conductive carbon nanoheteroanode for polymer fuel cell.
