Abstract:
The present invention provides a carburized component that is manufactured by vacuum carburization and demonstrates exceptional bending fatigue strength in an edge section and a flat section. This carburized component is manufactured by vacuum carburizing steel. The outer surface of the carburized component includes a top section, the edge section, and the flat section. The steel contains 0.10 to 0.30% of C, 0.05 to 0.8% of Si, 0.3 to 2.0% of Mn, 0.06% or less of P, 0.006 to 0.1% of S, 0.5 to 3.0% of Cr, 0.01 to 0.1% of Al, 0.025% or less of N, 0 to 0.5% of Cu, 0 to 0.5% of Ni, and 0 to 1.0% of Mo, the remainder comprising Fe and impurities (all amounts representing percentage by mass). The carbon concentration in a flat surface layer section down to 0.05 mm from the flat section is 0.7% to less than 1.0% by mass, and an edge surface layer section down to 80 μm from the edge section contains one or more cementites having a length of 3.0 μm or less, the cementite fraction in the edge section being 5 to 15%.
