Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a card insert/eject mechanism which is installed at the front of a card reader which conveys a card such that the longitudinal direction of the card matches the card conveyance direction, said card insert/eject mechanism being capable of preventing skimming and of delivering the card to the card reader in an orientation whereat the card may be processed with the card reader. If a card (2) is inserted into a card insertion port (5) such that the lateral direction of the card (2) matches a direction X and with the front and back orientation thereof being correct, this card insert/eject mechanism (4)receives the card (2) to a rotation position (2A), and controls a card rotation and conveyance mechanism (16), rotating the card (2) in a rotation direction and at a rotation angle based on the result of an assessment of the insertion orientation of the card (2). If the card (2) is inserted into the card insertion port (5) such that the longitudinal direction of the card (2) matches the direction X, or with the front and back orientation thereof being upside-down, the card insert/eject mechanism (4) does not receive the card (2).
