Description:
A CARDBOARD BOX

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a cardboard box for packaging one or more articles.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

A known cardboard box (200) comprises, with reference to figure 1: a bottom wall (300) on which one or more articles (20) are positioned; a first lateral wall (40) which is hinged to a first edge (300a) of the bottom wall (300) and which is folded at an angle with respect to the bottom wall (300); a second lateral wall (50) which is opposite and parallel to the first lateral wall (40), which is hinged to a second edge (300b) of the bottom wall (300), which second edge (300b) is opposite the first edge (300a) of the bottom wall (300), and which is folded at an angle with respect to the bottom wall (300); a third lateral wall (60) which is hinged to a third edge (300c) of the bottom wall (300), which third edge (300c) conjoins the first edge (300a) and the second edge (300b) of the bottom wall (300) to one another, which is interposed between the first lateral wall (40) and the second lateral wall (50) and which is folded at an angle with respect to the bottom wall (300); a fourth lateral wall (70), which is opposite and parallel to the third lateral wall (60), which is hinged to a fourth edge (300d) of the bottom wall (300), which fourth edge (300d) is opposite the third edge (300c) of the bottom wall (300), which is interposed between the first lateral wall (40) and the second lateral wall (50) and which is folded at an angle with respect to the bottom wall (300); a covering wall (160) which is hinged to an edge (40c) of the first lateral wall (40) and which is folded to superiorly cover the cardboard box (200); a first flap (170) which is hinged to an edge (160c) of the covering wall (160) and which is folded with respect to the covering wall (160) to overlap on the second lateral wall (50); first fixing means (180) arranged so as to fix the first flap (170) and the second lateral wall (50) to one another.

Figure 1 illustrates the known cardboard box (200) in a semi-open configuration.

When the above-mentioned cardboard box (200) contains one or more articles (20) internally thereof, the articles might be free to move internally of the cardboard box (200), should filler material not be interposed between the one or more articles (20) and the lateral walls (40, 50, 60, 70).

Therefore, with the purpose of limiting the movement of one or more articles (20) internally of the known cardboard box (200), with particular reference to figure 1, the cardboard box (200) comprises: a first abutting wing (80) which is hinged to a first vertical edge (40a) of the first lateral wall (40); a second abutting wing (90) which is hinged to a first vertical edge (60a) of the third lateral wall (60), which first vertical edge (60a) is adjacent to the first vertical edge (40a) of the first lateral wall (40).

The first abutting wing (80) and the second abutting wing (90) are hinged to one another and folded with respect to the first vertical edge (40a) of the first lateral wall (40) and to the second vertical edge (60a) of the third lateral wall (60) so as to be neared to one another and facing towards an inside of the cardboard box (200), so as to abut the one or more articles (20).

Further, the known cardboard box (200) comprises: a third abutting wing (100) which is hinged to a first vertical edge (50a) of the second lateral wall (50); a fourth abutting wing (110) which is hinged to a second vertical edge (not illustrated) of the third lateral wall (60), which second vertical edge is opposite the first vertical edge (60a) of the third lateral wall (60) and is adjacent to the first vertical edge (50a) of the second lateral wall (50).

The third abutting wing (100) and the fourth abutting wing (110) are hinged to one another and folded with respect to the first vertical edge (50a) of the second lateral wall (50) and to the second vertical edge of the third lateral wall (60) so as to be neared to one another and facing towards an inside of the cardboard box (200), so as to abut the one or more articles (20).

In a like way, the cardboard box (200) comprises: a fifth abutting wing (120) which is hinged to a second vertical edge (40b) of the first lateral wall (40), which second vertical edge (40b) is opposite the first vertical edge (40a) of the first lateral wall (40); a sixth abutting wing (130) which is hinged to a first vertical edge (70a) of the fourth lateral wall (70) which first vertical edge (70a) is adjacent to the second vertical edge (40b) of the first lateral wall (40).

The fifth abutting wing (120) and the sixth abutting wing (130) are hinged to one another and folded with respect to the second vertical edge (40b) of the first lateral wall (40) and to the first vertical edge (70a) of the fourth lateral wall (70) so as to be neared to one another and facing towards an inside of the cardboard box (200), so as to abut the one or more articles (20).

The cardboard box (200) comprises: a seventh abutting wing (140) which is hinged to a second vertical edge (50b) of the second lateral wall (50), which second vertical edge (50b) is opposite the first vertical edge (50a) of the second lateral wall (50); an eighth abutting wing (150) which is hinged to a second vertical edge (70b) of the fourth lateral wall (70), which second vertical edge (70b) is opposite the first vertical edge (70a) of the fourth lateral wall (70) and is adjacent to the second vertical edge (50b) of the second lateral wall (50).

The seventh abutting wing (140) and the eighth abutting wing (150) are hinged to one another and folded with respect to the second vertical edge (50b) of the second lateral wall (50) and to the second vertical edge (70b) of the fourth lateral wall (70) so as to be neared to one another and facing towards an inside of the cardboard box (200), so as to abut the one or more articles (20).

With the purpose of making the cardboard box (200) more rigid, the box comprises: a second flap (270) which is hinged to a first edge (160a) of the covering wall (160) and which is folded to superpose on the third lateral wall (60); a third flap (280) which is hinged to a second edge (160b) of the covering wall (160), which second edge (160b) is opposite the first edge (160a) of the covering wall (160), and which is folded to superpose on the fourth lateral wall (70).

The second flap (270) and the third flap (280) can be fixed, respectively, to the third lateral wall (60) and the fourth lateral wall (70) by means of a plurality of glue spots (not illustrated).

With the purpose collecting an article (20) from the inside of the known cardboard box (200), the first flap (170) and the second lateral wall (50) are separated from one another.

Thereafter, the second lateral wall (50) is folded towards the outside of the cardboard box (200), drawing with it the third abutting wing (100) and the fourth abutting wing (110), the seventh abutting wing (140) and the eighth abutting wing (150) and thus drawing them towards the outside of the cardboard box (200).

At the moment of opening the cardboard box (200), with the purpose of checking that the cardboard box (200) contains the desired article (20) it will be necessary to collect the article (20) from the cardboard box (200) towards the outside, as in that way it will be possible to view the whole article (20) and check the condition thereof: in fact, by leaving the article (20) internally of the cardboard box (200) it will be possible to view only a face of the article (20), i.e. the face facing the second lateral wall (50). Therefore, with the purpose of checking the condition of the article (20) contained in the cardboard box (20), it will be necessary to collect the article (20) from the cardboard box (200).

In a case in which the cardboard box (200) contained a plurality of articles, the articles would have to be all collected from the cardboard box (200) towards the outside, with the purpose of checking the number and condition of the articles, for example.

In this way, there might be a risk of losing some articles of the plurality of articles, in particular those of small size.

In this matter, it might be advantageous to consider separating the second flap (270) from the third lateral wall (60) and the third flap (280) from the fourth lateral wall (70).

However, in this way, the first lateral wall (40), the third lateral wall (60) and the fourth lateral wall (70) will fold towards the outside of the cardboard box (200), drawing with them the other abutting wings (80, 90, 120, 130), leading to the complete opening of the cardboard box (200), as illustrated in figure 1.

It follows that, should it be desired to newly arrange the articles (20) on the bottom wall (300) and newly form the cardboard box (200), the lateral walls (40, 50 60, 70) will have to be newly folded at an angle with respect to the bottom wall (300) and the first flap (170) and the second lateral wall (50), the second flap (270) and the third lateral wall (60), the third flap (280) and the fourth lateral wall (70) will have to be newly fixed to one another.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In the light of the above, the aim of the present invention consists in obviating the above-mentioned drawbacks.

The above aim is attained with a cardboard box according to claim 1.

Advantageously, as the first abutting wing and the second abutting wing, the third abutting wing and the fourth abutting wing, the fifth abutting wing and the sixth abutting wing, the seventh abutting wing and the eighth abutting wing are fixed to one another, in order to be facing towards the inside of the cardboard box, after having separated the first flap and the second lateral wall and having folded the covering wall towards the outside, then the first lateral wall, the second lateral wall, the third lateral wall and the fourth lateral wall will maintain the relative position folded at an angle with respect to the bottom wall so as to determine a lateral containment for the one or more articles present inside the cardboard box.

In this way, by guaranteeing a lateral containment to the one or more articles, once the cardboard box is open, the possible risk of losing some articles is limited.

Further, in this way it is possible to have a better view of the article/s present inside the cardboard box thus limiting the activity of collecting the one or more articles from the cardboard box towards the outside to check the condition thereof, as they are easily visible from outside the box without having to remove them.

Further, should it be desired to newly form the cardboard box, it will be sufficient to newly fold the covering wall in order to superiorly cover the one or more articles and fix the first flap and the second lateral wall to one another.
