Abstract:
This invention provides a casting method utilizing a high level of vacuum, which can shorten injection time and can produce high-quality castings. The casting method comprises a low-speed injection step of pouring a molten metal (15) into a plunger sleeve (6) and then moving a plunger (3) at a low speed to forcibly feed the molten metal, a high-speed injection step of, after the low-speed injection step, moving the plunger at a high speed to inject the molten metal at a high speed into a cavity (12) within a mold (8, 9), a vacuum suction step of evacuating the cavity through a vacuum valve (13), and a pressure holding step of, after the completion of the high-speed injection step, further pressurizing the molten metal to maintain the molten metal in a pressurized state. In the vacuum suction step, when a plunger chip (5) has closed the pouring port, the vacuum suction is started, and, immediately after the degree of vacuum within the cavity (12) reaches a contemplated value, the step is transferred to the high-speed injection step.
