Abstract:
A catalyst for producing acrolein and/or acrylic acid by catalytically oxidizing propylene in a vapor phase with a gas comprising molecular oxygen. The catalyst is characterized by containing an active catalyst ingredient comprising molybdenum, bismuth, and cobalt as essential components, the active catalyst ingredient, in X-ray diffraction analysis with a Cu-Kα line, having a crystallinity (T) of 4-18% in the 2θ range of 5º to 90º. Also provided is a process for producing acrolein and/or acrylic acid which comprises catalytically oxidizing propylene in a vapor phase with a gas comprising molecular oxygen. The process is characterized by including a step in which the vapor-phase catalytic oxidation is conducted in the presence of the catalyst. With the catalyst and the process for acrolein and/or acrylic acid production, acrolein and/or acrylic acid can be stably produced in a high yield over long.
