The present invention relates to a catalyst composition including a transition metal compound having a novel structure, and a method for preparing a polyolefin using same. The catalyst composition according to the present invention has high polymerization activity for olefin-based monomers, and the fine structure of the polyolefin, such as molecular weight distribution, can be controlled to varying degrees, and thus facilitates easier preparation of the polyolefins having the desired physical properties.
