Abstract:
Disclosed is a catalyst for use in the exhaust gas clean-up, which comprises a
composite oxide catalyst and a heat-resistant carrier and is less likely to be
reduced in activity even when used in a high-temperature, high-oxygen-level
atmosphere. The catalyst comprises a composite oxide catalyst and a heat-resistant
carrier supporting the composite oxide catalyst thereon. The composite oxide
catalyst comprises a rare earth element, an alkali earth element and a noble metal,
wherein a part of the rare earth element and a part of the alkali earth element together
form a composite oxide and the composite oxide and a part of the noble metal together
form a solid solution. The heat-resistant carrier comprises at least one composite
oxide selected from the group consisting of a first composite oxide represented
by the general formula: AB2O4, a second composite oxide
having a perobskite structure and represented by the general formula: LMO3,
and a third composite oxide having a pyrochlore structure and represented by
the general formula: X2Y2O7.
