Abstract:
A catalyst loaded with fine noble metal particles comprises a base and a porous film that is formed on the base. The porous film contains carrier particles, fine noble metal particles, and an inorganic binder. In the porous film, the fine noble metal particles are supported by the surfaces of the carrier particles, and the carrier particles form secondary particles each of which has a porous structure. The porous film is formed by connecting a secondary particle of the carrier particles with another secondary particle of the carrier particles adjacent to the first mentioned secondary particle by the inorganic binder such that an air space is at least partially present between the secondary particles.
