Title:
CATALYST FOR SOLID POLYMER ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELLS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/194008
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a catalyst for solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells, wherein catalyst particles composed of platinum and transition metal M are supported on a carbon powder carrier. This catalyst for solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells is characterized in that the molar ratio (Pt/M) between platinum and transition metal M which constitute catalyst particles is at least 2.5, and the ratio (SCOMSA/SBET) of the specific surface area (SCOMSA) of platinum as measured by the CO adsorption method to the specific surface area (SBET) of the catalyst as measured by the BET method is 0.26-0.32. This catalyst can be produced by preparing an alloy catalyst and then washing the alloy catalyst with a platinum compound solution, and further replenishing the surfaces of catalyst particles with platinum.
