Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a technique for producing 1,3-butadiene with high efficiency from 1,4-butanediol or 3-buten-1-ol under reaction conditions including a high inversion rate.
[Solution] A catalyst for use in the production of 1,3-butadiene contains ytterbium oxide as an active ingredient that enables the production of 1,3-butadiene from 1,4-butanediol or 3-buten-1-ol. A method for producing 1,3-butadiene comprises the step of bringing a fluid containing 1,4-butanediol and/or 3-buten-1-ol into contact with the catalyst for use in the production of 1,3-butadiene to produce a liquid containing 1,3-butadiene.
