Abstract:

A catalytic converter manufacturing method is provided with a detecting step for detecting a pressing strength for press-fitting a catalyst (11) into an outer tube (13), a calculating step, wherein a diameter quantity to be reduced is calculated based on the pressing strength detected in the detecting step so as to have a value of a space between the outer tube (13) and the catalyst (11) is at a desired target value, and a diameter reducing step wherein a diameter of the outer tube (13) is reduced based on the diameter quantity to be reduced, which is calculated in the calculating step.
