Abstract:
The present invention relates to: a cathode active material preparation method, which can minimize the surface deterioration of a cathode active material, occurring during washing, effectively control remaining lithium, and form a uniform coating layer on the surface of the cathode active material; and a cathode active material prepared thereby, and to a cathode active material preparation method and a cathode active material prepared thereby, the method comprising the steps of: (A) preparing a lithium transition metal oxide; (B) mixing the lithium transition metal oxide and a first washing solution so as to primarily wash the lithium transition metal oxide, and then primarily filter same; (C) using a second washing solution so as to simultaneously secondly wash and secondly filter the lithium transition metal oxide, having passed through step (B), by means of a filtration device capable of performing washing and filtration at the same time; and (D) drying the lithium transition metal oxide, having passed through step (C), and then mixing the dried lithium transition metal oxide and a coating element-containing material and heating same, thereby forming a coating layer, wherein the coating element-containing material comprises a boron-containing material and a lithium-containing material selected from LiOH, Li2CO3 and Li2O.
