Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cathode active material and a preparation method therefor, the cathode active material comprising; a discrete-particle-type lithium transition metal oxide divided into a surface part and a core; and a cobalt-containing coating part formed on the surface part, wherein the surface part includes an oxidation number gradient layer in which the oxidation number of nickel (Ni) increases in the direction of the outermost side thereof.
