Title:
CELL DISCRIMINATION DEVICE AND CELL DISCRIMINATION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/121751
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are a cell discrimination device and a cell discrimination method, both of which enable the discrimination of circulating cancer cells without relying on any antibody-antigen reaction that can occur on the surfaces of the cells. The cell discrimination device (10) comprises: a capillary (15) which enables a sample stream (11S) to flow; an irradiation unit (20) which can emit irradiation light (L); a light reception unit (30) which can receive transmitted light (L1) and can output transmitted light (L1) as a transmitted light signal (SG1); a measurement unit (40) into which the transmitted light signal (SG1) output from the light reception unit (30) is input and which can measure the variation in the transmitted light signal (SG1) caused by cells (S); a discrimination unit (50) which can discriminate whether or not the cells (S) are peripheral blood cells based on the value of a peak point of the variation in the transmitted light signal (SG1) caused by the cells (S) which is measured by the measurement unit (40); a sorting unit (60) which can sort the cells (S) into predetermined containers based on the discrimination results obtained by the discrimination unit (50); and a supply unit (70) which can supply the sample flow (11S) to the capillary (15).
