Abstract:
The present invention relates to: cellulose nanofibers which exhibit excellent dispersibility in water and can be contained in a water-soluble polymer at a high concentration; and a method for obtaining the cellulose nanofibers. The present invention also relates to a fiber-reinforced composite material using the cellulose nanofibers. Cellulose nanofibers having an average polymerization degree of from 100 to 800 (inclusive) and an aspect ratio of from 150 to 2,000 (inclusive) are produced by subjecting an unmodified cellulose to an enzyme and/or acid treatment and to a mechanical shearing treatment. Since the cellulose nanofibers exhibit good dispersibility and can be dispersed in a water-soluble polymer at a high concentration, there can be obtained a fiber-reinforced composite material having a high strength.
