Abstract:
Provided are: a ceramic substrate for mounting light-emission elements which exhibits excellent light reflection performance; and a light-emission device including said ceramic substrate. The ceramic substrate has an aluminium oxide content of at least 75 mass%, and has, provided to at least one side thereof, a mounting section to have a light-emission element mounted thereon. The surface at the side where the mounting section is provided has an area which satisfies all of the following conditions: (1) that the porosity when observing pores having an equivalent circle diameter of at least 0.1 µm be 2-7%; (2) that the equivalent-circle-diameter average value (A) of the pores having an equivalent circle diameter of at least 0.1 µm be in the range of 0.1-0.9 µm; and (3) that the equivalent circle diameter of at least 80% of the pores having an equivalent circle diameter of at least 0.1 µm be in the range of A±0.3 µm.
