Disclosed are: a ceramics for a decorative component, which has a golden color tone, gives a high-grade impression, aesthetic satisfaction and a feeling of mind relaxation, shows a small color difference, and does not damage the beauty of the decorative surface; and a decorative component using the same. Specifically disclosed is a ceramics for a decorative component which comprises a sintered compact of titanium nitride containing nickel, niobium, chromium and carbon, wherein the carbon content of the decorative surface is 0.4 to 0.9 mass% inclusive, and the decorative surface is substantially free from aluminum. Since the decorative surface is substantially free from aluminum, a preferred golden color tone can be obtained and no silver white spot, which comprises aluminum bonded to a metal component, sticks, as a foreign matter, to the decorative surface. Therefore, the beauty of the decorative surface is little damaged.
