Abstract:
A chain for advance/retreat drive comprising a first chain member (14) and a second chain member (15) having an elongated shape and being capable of advance/retreat movement. Each of the first chain member (14) and the second chain member (15) has a plurality of chain elements (16) arranged in series. Each of the chain elements (16) has: a bending portion (23) having a predetermined length and being capable of bending deformation in a direction intersecting the longitudinal direction; and a block portion (50) to be positioned on one side of the intersecting direction with respect to the bending portion (23) when the chain elements (16) adjacent to each other in the series direction are coupled to each other. The intersecting direction is a direction intersecting the series direction. When the first chain member (14) and the second chain member (15) linearly perform advance/retreat movement, the block portions (50) adjacent to each other in a direction (Z) of the advance/retreat movement are brought into abutment with each other to form a straight bar shape.
